Corsetry

These garments were designed and made with the idea of being used for a performance piece based on Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti.

This costume consists of a corset, a skirt with pocket hoops to create the shape and a reversible cape which is to be used as a prop. The performer would enter the stage with the cape on with the grey side showing, then when one of the sisters becomes obsessed with the goblins fruit the performer places the cape down on the floor with the green side showing. This will reveal the all black look which is fitted and exaggerates the female shape in comparison to the cape which is used to hide the shape. At the end of the performance when the sisters save each other the cape get put back on to re-cover the black look.
